Speech Therapist

General Information

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech Therapist to join our healthcare team. This position involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with communication and swallowing disorders in various settings, including outpatient and inpatient environments.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 289
• Number of Staff: 2 PRN Speech Therapists, 1 Full-Time Speech Therapist (NICU), 1 Open Full-Time Speech Therapist (Inpatient Adult)
• Documentation System: Meditech; Expanse

Responsibilities

• Conduct speech evaluations and implement treatment plans.
• Perform Passy Muir valve trials and tolerance trials.
• Execute Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies.
• Carry out cognitive assessments.
• Provide caregiver training.
• Assess language skills, both expressive and receptive.
• Maintain effective communication with interdisciplinary teams, including Physicians and Residents.

Qualifications

• Must possess CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence), BLS certification, and a valid Florida license.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to function independently.
• Experienced with outpatient and inpatient Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies.
• Able to treat patients in the ICU and CVICU, including those with tracheostomies.
• Capable of prioritizing patient care across different units or floors.
• Willing to work two weekend days a month.
