Job Description

The Step-Down Registered Nurse will utilize strong critical-thinking skills and adapt to available resources while applying a comprehensive clinical approach across various responsibilities. The nurse will be responsible for the care of patients with complex medical needs, including telemetry monitoring and management.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a step-down unit.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and neurological status regularly.
• Administer medications and manage blood product administration.
• Perform cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation.
• Conduct frequent assessments and interventions for respiratory and cardiac patients.
• Assist with post-heart catheterization care and vascular procedure monitoring.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of recent step-down nursing experience required.
• Current and valid RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required.
• Experience in cardiac telemetry and emergency care preferred.
• Knowledge of IV start and maintenance, PICC line management, and blood product administration.
