Job Summary

Step Down Unit position providing care for adult and geriatric patients in a setting that combines medical-surgical and intermediate care. The role supports patient assignments with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:6 and may include medical-surgical overflow. First-time travelers are accepted.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shifts are 12 hours, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge experience and charting system experience.
• Additional Information: The unit includes medical-surgical and intermediate care patients, with a typical daily census of 1214 patients. Relevant clinical capabilities include telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response and code team participation, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, oxygen and non-invasive airway support, isolation precautions, cardiac procedures, continuous bladder irrigation, renal failure care, arterial line management, wound care, insulin and heparin protocols, pacemaker care, post-myocardial infarction care, tracheostomy management, and high-flow nasal cannula support. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
