Job Summary

Step Down Unit position on a 12-hour night schedule, supporting patients in an acute stepdown and medical-surgical setting. The role provides care for patients with respiratory issues, weakness, urinary tract infections, acute kidney injury, and chest pain, with responsibility for telemetry monitoring and titration of designated intravenous drips.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, averaging 36 hours per week; weekends are scheduled as assigned, with three weekend shifts required every four weeks. Holidays rotate between evening and day shifts.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Stepdown experience
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Additional Information:
  • Patient care is provided in a 20-bed stepdown and medical-surgical unit with ratios of 1:3 for stepdown patients and 1:56 for medical-surgical patients.
  • Responsibilities include caring for patients with respiratory issues, weakness, urinary tract infections, acute kidney injury, and chest pain.
  • Registered nurses titrate heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone drips.
  • Respiratory support equipment includes continuous positive airway pressure, bilevel positive airway pressure, and high-flow oxygen.
  • Telemetry monitoring is provided, and registered nurses interpret cardiac rhythms.
  • Float rotation is not required.
  • Royal blue scrubs are required.
  • Unit-specific orientation is provided.
