Job Summary

Step Down Unit position in an acute care setting supporting cardiac progressive care patients. The role provides care for patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, post-catheterization procedures, coronary artery bypass grafting, and lobectomies. The position requires flexibility for weekend and holiday coverage in a collaborative clinical environment.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; professional license required for submission; minimum of 2 years of progressive care unit experience.
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Assignment Dates: 11/16/202602/15/2027.
• Additional Information: Cardiac progressive care unit with patient ratios of approximately 1:34. Clinical responsibilities include caring for patients with temporary or transvenous pacemakers, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, post-catheterization recovery, thoracic procedures, femoral-popliteal procedures, and postoperative coronary artery bypass grafting. The role includes titration of medications such as nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, nicardipine, amiodarone, insulin, dopamine, esmolol, and labetalol. Nurses are responsible for monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms. Every-other-weekend coverage is required at minimum, with Saturday, Sunday, and Monday coverage needs, as well as at least one major holiday during the holiday season. No call or standby requirement is listed.
