Job Summary

Step Down Unit The healthcare provider is seeking a registered nurse for a step-down unit position supporting inpatient care across medical/surgical, step-down, and intensive care units based on competency. The role provides care for cardiac, orthopedic, neurological, surgical, and medical patients in an acute care setting.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week; weekends are scheduled as needed.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Medical/surgical nursing background
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Current registered nurse license
• Preferred Qualifications: Step-down nursing experience.
• Additional Information:
  • Patient assignments may include medical/surgical, step-down, or intensive care units based on competency.
  • Step-down nurses may titrate selected infusions, including heparin, Cardizem, nitroglycerin, insulin, dobutamine, dopamine, and esmolol.
  • Patient ratios vary by unit, with typical ratios of 1:6 for medical/surgical, 1:45 for step-down, and 1:23 for intensive care.
  • The role may involve caring for patients requiring continuous positive airway pressure or bilevel positive airway pressure; ventilated patients are cared for in the intensive care unit.
  • Orientation consists of three to four shifts.
  • Royal blue scrubs are required.
  • A current drivers license with a current permanent address is required for submission.
