Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown/MedSurg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with weekend and holiday requirements as scheduled
• Weekend positions required for agency RN placements
• Expected to work approximately half of all recognized holidays
• No call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3:1 for step-down and 6:1 for med-surg floor patients
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) available with a goal of 3 CAs at all times at a 1:10 ratio
• Flex unit serving both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs
• Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
• Must be able to manage 6 patients (med-surg) or 3 patients (step-down)
• EPIC experience required - charting system is EPIC
• RNs will have orders written to titrate drips including Heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
• Will work with CPAP and BiPAP on floor and step-down; HiFlow and vents in step-down (vents requiring settings adjustments transferred to ICU)
• Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment used; remote telemetry surveillance center and central monitoring available; RNs not expected to read their own strips
• Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7
• May work in a charge role
• First to float or be pulled to other floor/step-down units
• Dress code: Any combination of royal blue and white scrubs
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment and 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• BSN not required

This acute care facility features a 29-bed Stepdown/MedSurg unit currently under construction, with all beds equipped for step-down care upon opening in the first quarter of 2026. The unit is designed to serve a diverse patient population with both floor and step-down capabilities, supported by a dedicated team of charge nurses and house supervisors available around the clock. The facility utilizes advanced telemetry monitoring through a remote surveillance center and is committed to maintaining optimal nurse-to-patient ratios to ensure high-quality patient care.
