Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed Step Down Unit managing a diverse cardiac and complex medical patient population including post-cath/stent/intervention patients, CIWA/BH, sepsis, DKA, CVA, GI bleeds, and post-surgical cases
• Perform telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation; travelers will be required to pass tele competency testing
• Initiate and titrate drips including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, and Insulin; conduct NIHSS/neuro assessments and dysphagia screenings
• Float within skillset as needed — cross-campus float to a nearby Indiana campus and potentially a Kentucky campus with a minimum 2-hour notice provided; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
• Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements: three weekends per every six-week schedule and every other holiday
• May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Current, active compact RN license
• AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required — must be attached at time of submittal
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 full year of Step Down experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment and Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with stable home vents, PleurX/pericardial drains, lumbar drains, and VP shunts
• Familiarity with Narcan drips
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage change effectively
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a resilient and adaptable work style
