Description

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN with 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience and a Michigan RN license to care for gen med/oncology patients on a 13-week assignment.

Details

• Step Down unit (GMU) caring for general medicine and oncology stepdown patients
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-6, with support staff available if ratios flex higher
• No on-call requirements
• Required to work every other weekend, assigned by manager/scheduler
• Floating required to other med surg areas, including AU and ER, to care for med surg patients
• Uses Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
• Documentation completed in EPIC

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• OCN, ONC, or ONS certification preferred (will accept either ONC or ONS)
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience required
• Oncology/chemo experience preferred but not required
• Skilled in administering and monitoring chemotherapy via IV
• Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• EPIC charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Care for gen med/oncology stepdown patients, including chemo admissions which decrease assignment ratios
• Charge RN typically not included in patient assignment
• Travelers are first to float to other units as needed
• Block scheduling may be accommodated upon request
• Remainder of schedule (outside assigned weekends) available for self-scheduling
• Must be available during the first two weeks of the assignment
• RTO requests after offer acceptance must be discussed with the onsite manager, with a maximum of 10 days RTO
• Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration, with exemption requests submitted within 48 hours of signing
• Previous internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
• Locals accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience
