Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Respiratory Step-Down Unit position requiring a CT or compact license and 1-2 years of respiratory/vented patient experience.

Details

• Long Term Acute Care setting within a Respiratory Step-Down Unit
• Respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patient population in a medical (non-traditional Med/Surg) environment
• Unit houses 38 beds
• Patient ratios: Day/Evening 1:9, Night 1:12
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to like units including Respiratory Care Unit, MRU/CMU, TRU, and the Hartford Satellite Campus, with travelers floating first
• Float ratios range from 1:5 to 1:12 depending on unit

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with respiratory or ventilated patients strongly preferred
• Responsible for IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, med titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
• Willing to obtain flu vaccination or provide a medical declination (personal or religious declinations not accepted)

Additional Information

• Care for respiratory-focused, ventilator-dependent patients; ventilator management is handled by respiratory therapists, not nurses
• Float RNs will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless pediatric-specific
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate
