- Shift Schedule: 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.; weekend-night rotation may include Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week; 48 hours guaranteed per week as specified for the assignment
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5–6 for floor patients
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
- Orientation: One shift on the unit
- Additional Scheduling Notes: Weekend and holiday participation is required. Flexibility for floating to other hospital units may be expected.
Neuro Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
- At least 1 year of recent registered nursing experience, including strong neuro or medical-surgical nursing experience
- Recent EPIC experience required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification must be completed and available at submission
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Clinical proficiency with neurological assessments, stroke care, seizure management, postoperative spine care, and G-tube care
- Ability to work independently, collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, and adapt to changing patient-care needs
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurological and medical-surgical diagnoses
- Perform frequent neurological assessments and accurately document NIHSS findings and changes in patient status
- Care for patients with strokes, seizures, deep brain stimulators, surgical and postoperative spine conditions, and other neurological disorders
- Administer medications and monitor patients receiving physician-directed infusions and other therapies
- Provide safe and effective G-tube care and support nutritional needs according to the plan of care
- Recognize changes in condition, escalate concerns promptly, and coordinate interventions with providers and the care team
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
- Collaborate with nursing assistants, respiratory therapy, providers, and monitor technicians to promote safe, efficient patient care
- Participate in weekend, holiday, and potential floating assignments as required by the schedule and patient-care needs
