Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Stepdown unit requiring telemetry proficiency and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care setting on the 8 East Med/Surg unit, which includes both Stepdown and Floor sections totaling 34 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:3 on Stepdown and 1:5-6 on the Floor
• RNs required to titrate drips
• Telemetry monitoring in use with tele techs posting strips each shift, though RNs must be proficient in reading and interpreting strips
• In-house RT available 24/7, with ventilators present on the unit
• Charge Nurse and Transport RN support available from 7am-7:30pm at optimal staffing
• Nursing assistant support typically 2-5 CAs per shift
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:30am
• Weekend and holiday shifts required as scheduled
• May be required to float within the facility

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS certification required
• Telemetry proficiency required, including strip reading and interpretation
• BSN not required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Stepdown unit, including drip titration and telemetry monitoring
• Collaborate with tele techs, nursing assistants, and in-house RT staff
• Royal blue scrubs required per facility dress code
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• COVID-19 vaccination required, with medical or religious exemption requests available through facility-provided forms
• Previous travelers at this facility must wait 2 years before reapplying, with cumulative experience limits of 1 year before requiring a break
• Previous permanent staff must wait 2 years before returning as a traveler
• Cancellation policy allows up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract
