Description

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN with CT/compact licensure and Epic experience for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center.

Details

• Step Down/PCU/DOU/IMC telemetry unit in a short-term acute care hospital with 426 staffed beds
• Level II Trauma Center within the Yale New Haven Health System
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the department as needed
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• PCCN or CCRN certification preferred
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required (1.5 years considered for Level I trauma or travel experience)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
• Neurological and psychiatric patient care experience, including CVA, TBI, and seizure disorders
• Experience with insulin drip titration and IV insulin protocols
• Cardiovascular care experience including pacemakers, post-MI, and TAVR
• 1 professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a telemetry/stepdown setting for complex medical-surgical and neurological patients
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient emergencies
• Participate in isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID-19 vaccine and booster required, with exemptions only for religious or medical reasons
• Travelers must be available to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital
• Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a travel nurse
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved
• First-time travelers may be considered if they meet experience requirements
