Job Title: Sterile Processing Tech Manager Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: Temporary to Permanent Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of sterile processing experience, with prior supervisory experience required. License: Must hold relevant state license. Certifications: CRCST and/or CBSPD preferred. Must-Have: Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems. Knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology, and infection prevention practices. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Description: The Sterile Processing Manager is responsible for the strategic, operational, and regulatory oversight of the Sterile Processing Department. This role ensures the safe, timely, and compliant reprocessing of surgical instruments and medical devices to support procedural areas. The Manager leads daily operations, staffing, quality assurance, infection prevention practices, and continuous process improvement. Adherence to regulatory guidelines is critical. The Manager will oversee the entire SPD operation including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case cart management, and distribution. Direct reports include SPD Supervisors, Lead Technicians, and non-certified Technicians. Performance evaluations, coaching, and progressive discipline will be part of the responsibilities. Education, competency development, and certification support for staff will be developed and implemented. Quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives will be monitored. This role will address issues related to tray errors, instrument availability, and infection prevention concerns, and develop budget plans for the SPD. Collaboration with various departments to ensure surgical case readiness is essential. Participation in interdisciplinary meetings related to instrumentation and quality initiatives is required. The Manager will also monitor adherence to infection control and safety protocols across the department. All tasks must be performed with the utmost attention to detail for patient safety and operational efficiency.
