The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing, assembling, and distributing surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures all instruments are safe, functional, and available for patient care procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Decontaminate surgical instruments and medical equipment according to infection control standards
Inspect instruments for cleanliness, damage, and functionality
Assemble instrument trays according to surgical case requirements
Operate sterilization equipment such as steam autoclaves and low-temperature sterilizers
Label, package, and track sterilized instruments
Maintain accurate documentation and sterilization records
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines
Maintain inventory and restock sterile supplies
Report equipment malfunctions or quality concerns
