Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Travel RN in the Surgical specialty in Santa Fe, NM. This contract position offers a rewarding opportunity to deliver high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment. As a Registered Nurse, you will coordinate and implement patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units, ensuring that quality care is provided efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Re-assesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
• Develops and implements a measurable individualized plan of care for the patient within the time frame established by Nursing Standards of Care.
• Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes; modifies the plan of care based upon evaluations.
• Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
• Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Evaluates the plan of care and performs various Point of Care testing procedures.

Staff Responsibilities:

• Utilizes effective communication strategies, resulting in intended outcomes.
• Delegates unit work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of required patient care support activities.
• Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based upon patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness.
• Participates in the orientation of new staff/students on the unit.
• Promotes a positive work environment as evidenced by demonstrating a professional, supportive attitude for the unit staff.

Customer Relations:

• Exhibits behaviors and actions that create a high level of patient/customer satisfaction and respect for patient rights and confidentiality.
• Demonstrates effective communication and human relations skills, promoting harmony and teamwork.

Requirements:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Certification/Licenses: Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license; BLS Certification required; ACLS Certification required.
• Skills: Current knowledge and skills appropriate to age/type of patient population served; knowledgeable and sensitive to patients' rights in the delivery of care.

This position does not require weekend shifts, and blocked scheduling is accommodated. You may be required to take 1-2 call nights per week and participate in 1-2 24-hour weekend call shifts. Floating to other departments may be needed as required.
