Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Telemetry/PCU position requiring 2+ years of current Tele/PCU/Stepdown experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
• Cardiac telemetry and stepdown level patient population, including CVA, post TPA care, and pre/post neurosurgery cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Meditech charting system experience preferred
• Night shift rotation: one week of 3x12-hour shifts, next week of 4x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• 36/48 rotating schedule totaling 84 hours per two-week pay period
• Float required within scope of practice
• Every other weekend required
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• AVADE Level 1 & 2 certification preferred
• 2+ years of current Tele/PCU/Stepdown experience required
• 3-6 months of Level IV trauma experience or above preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and phlebotomy preferred
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing cardiac drips and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias
• Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• IV insulin protocol experience
• Chemotherapy monitoring experience preferred
• Ortho trauma and total joint replacement care experience
• Post-MI care and pre/post cardiac catheterization experience, including sheath removal and TR band management
• Driver's license required, with address matching permanent address
• Two professional references required: one Charge or higher and one supervisor, both completed within the last year

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a telemetry/stepdown unit setting, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Flu vaccine required; declinations not accepted, though medical and religious exemptions may be approved case-by-case
• Orientation occurs on a bi-weekly basis
• Up to 7 days of RTO considered, must be submitted upfront with no changes accepted after offer
• Must work either a major or minor shift on every holiday
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Traveler pairs accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
• Returning travelers must take a minimum 6-month break after one year of continuous work before being eligible to return
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on relevant experience
