Job Summary

Telemetry nursing position. The role provides care for patients with cardiac and neurological conditions, including post-cardiac catheterization recovery, arrhythmias, and stroke-related diagnoses. Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and care for patients requiring intravenous medication management.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, active Illinois nursing license, intravenous drip experience, and at least 2 years of recent nursing experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Phlebotomy skills and experience with cardiac catheterization recovery involving femoral or radial access, stroke care, and telemetry nursing.
• Schedule: Night shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts, typically 7:00 PM7:30 AM or 7:00 AM7:30 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, with holiday rotation.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The telemetry unit cares for patients with stroke, congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, coronary artery disease, post-cardiac catheterization recovery needs, and arrhythmias. Patient assignments generally include 45 patients during the day and 56 patients at night. Registered nurses monitor telemetry, sign off on rhythm strips, and care for patients receiving medications such as Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, and heparin. Floating may include intensive care, medical-surgical, and emergency department assignments within scope of practice. Department-specific orientation includes two 12-hour shifts.
