Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a 13-week assignment on a combined Tele/Med-Surg/Pedi unit requiring prior telemetry experience and an active TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical-surgical/telemetry/pediatric unit with 23 beds and 37 staff members
• Day shift team includes 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 techs, and a unit secretary; night shift includes 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, and 2 techs
• Patient ratio of 1:6 for RNs and 1:10-15 for techs
• Uses IV pumps, SCD pumps, vein finder, bladder scanner, EKG, integrated vital signs monitoring, and computers on wheels
• Uses the Expanse EMR system
• 13-week assignment with a 7a-7p shift schedule
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Floating required to any unit within skill set

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience, preferably in a Med-Surg Tele or stepdown unit
• Experience with Expanse EMR preferred, including admissions and discharges workflows
• Ability to draw labs preferred
• Skilled in lab draws, IV insertions, foley insertions, and administering IV fluids and medications such as antibiotics
• Experience preparing patients for surgical and non-surgical procedures
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Administer medications, prepare patients for procedures, and maintain clear communication with physicians
• Attend daily huddles at 0645 and 1845, participate in bedside shift report, and complete required daily charting
• Royal blue scrub attire required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
