Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Surgical/Telemetry unit requiring 1+ year of tele experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Surgical 3B unit specializing in GI/GU/ENT/Urology surgical patients
• 32-bed unit with patient ratios varying from 1:5-1:6 on days to 1:6-1:8 on nights
• Utilizes Alaris pumps, telemetry monitoring, and lift equipment
• EPIC EMR system used for charting
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Rotational floating required
• Weekend hours required as needed by facility
• No on-call requirements
• Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire first week

Requirements

• Active RN license in Missouri or compact license eligible for MO licensure
• BLS certification from AHA required
• 4 trauma credits required, or must be completed within first two weeks of start
• NIHSS certification required prior to start (may begin without it)
• ACLS from AHA preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience required
• Experience and competence in drug titration required
• Trauma and inpatient experience preferred
• No employment gaps exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care across all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
• Cares for patients post-trauma, post-surgical intervention, and with medical comorbidities
• Must maintain a calm demeanor and strong collaboration and communication skills
• Black scrubs required; torn clothing and open-toed shoes not permitted
• Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
• Physical demands include standing and walking most of shift, frequent bending, lifting, and turning patients with assistance, and pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Up to 5 days of requested time off allowed but must be made up during the assignment
• Local candidates accepted
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to local contract restrictions after 3 consecutive 13-week assignments
• First-time travelers may be considered
