Description

American Traveler is hiring a Trauma Stepdown RN for a night shift (7P-7A) assignment requiring trauma/surgical experience and NIH Stroke certification.

Details

• Surgical Trauma unit within a Level 2 trauma center where 90% of inpatients come from the ED
• 25-bed unit staffed with 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, and 3 techs per shift
• Patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 maximum for stepdown
• Patient population includes post-surgical trauma, bariatric, vascular, orthopedic, neuro/spine, and GI cases, as well as neurological, cardiac, respiratory, and sepsis diagnoses
• Telemetry monitoring with Q4 vital signs and patient assessments
• Manages IV drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, and Nitroglycerin
• Uses Meditech EMR
• No on-call requirement
• Floating required to other stepdown service lines including Progressive Care Unit and Heart and Vascular Unit
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in trauma stepdown or related specialty required
• Trauma or orthopedic experience preferred
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Strong customer service and communication skills required
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (Canadian SSNs not accepted)
• One professional reference required (two required for Florida and Missouri candidates)

• Provide care for post-surgical, trauma, neurological, and cardiac stepdown patients
• Team-oriented environment requiring adaptability and strong communication skills
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered; no local candidates accepted
• First-time travelers may be considered
