Traveling MEP Assistant Project Manager - mission critical

The Traveling Assistant Project Manager (MEP) supports the planning, coordination, and execution of mission critical construction projects across the United States. This role works closely with Project Managers and field teams to help ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality and contract requirements.

Description

• Support Project Managers in planning, execution, and closeout activities for mission critical construction projects
• Manage day-to-day project activities under the guidance of senior project leadership
• Assist with MEP coordination efforts, subcontractor management, and project scheduling
• Prepare invoices, estimates, meeting agendas, and project documentation
• Track project progress and assist in developing daily, weekly, and monthly status reports
• Assist with project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and material suppliers
• Support the preparation, negotiation, and execution of change orders
• Help expedite invoice processing and subcontractor payments
• Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to coordinate field operations
• Communicate project delays, risks, and critical issues to project leadership
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Assist with project startup procedures and closeout documentation
• Support quality control and contract compliance efforts
• Travel as required to assigned project locations throughout the United States

Profile

A successful Traveling MEP Assistant Project Manager should have:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or related field
• 2-4 years of experience in commercial construction project management
• Exposure to mission critical, data center, industrial, healthcare, or large-scale commercial projects preferred
• Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and construction processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with project teams and stakeholders
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities
• Self-motivated professional with a high level of integrity and accountability
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proficient with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work in active construction environments and navigate uneven terrain
• Willingness to work extended hours, including occasional weekends, as project demands require
• Ability to travel extensively and relocate temporarily based on project assignments

Requirements Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field required. 2-4 years of experience in commercial construction, preferably supporting large-scale projects. Experience supporting mission critical, data center, industrial, or highly technical construction projects preferred. Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and coordination processes. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and consultants. Ability to assist with project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, cost tracking, and contract administration. Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Self-motivated professional with a high level of integrity, accountability, and personal responsibility. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. Ability to work in active construction environments, including walking uneven terrain and navigating job sites safely. Willingness to work extended hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as project demands require. Ability to travel extensively and accept assignments at project locations throughout the United States. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
