NOW HIRING: Traveling Superintendent

Opportunity

A well-established contractor is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to lead environmental remediation and civil works projects. Work includes a range of complex field operations, often involving deep excavations, sheet pile shoring, mass earthmoving, and specialty remediation activities.

This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader who prioritizes safety, productivity, and collaboration while managing crews and coordinating closely with project leadership.

Why Join Us?

  • Significant Growth and Advancement: The company is actively looking to grow from its current 20–22 million USD annual revenue to the 30 million USD+ range.

  • Direct Access to Leadership: Abscope maintains a flat organizational structure where employees deal directly with managers and owners. Decision-making is described as quick and efficient, without the 'red tape' or layers of management found in larger corporate environments.

  • Succession Opportunities: With the current leadership team (four partners) planning to transition out within the next five years, there is clear upward mobility for new hires to take on high-level leadership roles within the remediation division.

  • Flexible Work Arrangements: The company is open to remote and hybrid work for the right candidate. They have successfully managed long-distance employees (e.g., a project manager working from Florida) and prioritize results and dedication over constant physical supervision.

  • Competitive Compensation & Benefits: Includes performance-based bonuses, health, dental, and life insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and travel support such as hotel accommodations and per diem for out-of-town work.

  • Diverse and Complex Projects: Employees work on a 'mixed bag' of challenging projects, including soil remediation, asbestos and lead abatement, and structural/civil work. Recent projects range from impacted sites in Baltimore to large-scale operations in Puerto Rico and the Midwest.

  • Supportive Field Logistics: For field-based roles, the company pays for hotel accommodations and per diem for jobs located more than an hour away from the office. Their typical schedule allows field crews to be home on weekends (out Monday, back Friday).

  • Strong Company Culture: The leadership describes the atmosphere as having a high level of teamwork and a healthy work-life balance. They emphasize a 'personalized service' approach where no task is considered beneath any employee, including the President and Vice Presidents.
