Job Description

Traveling Construction Superintendent

Ground-Up Commercial Construction | Midwest Region

Are you a Superintendent who thrives in the field, enjoys running your own projects, and takes pride in delivering successful ground-up construction projects?

Our client is seeking an experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent to lead commercial construction projects throughout Indiana,

Illinois, Ohio, and occasionally Missouri. Projects typically range from 2-4 months in duration and offer the opportunity to take ownership from site development through completion. The regional project footprint often allows Superintendents to return home on weekends when project schedules permit.

Projects primarily consist of Quick Service Restaurant (QSR), retail, and other commercial construction projects and require a hands-on leader who can

effectively manage subcontractors, coordinate project logistics, maintain schedules, and ensure successful project delivery. The company offers a strong backlog of work, paid downtime between projects, company-paid lodging, daily per diem, mileage reimbursement from home to the project site and back, and company-provided technology to support success in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all daily on-site construction activities from mobilization through project completion
  • Oversee ground-up commercial construction projects, including sitework and civil coordination
  • Coordinate subcontractors, inspections, utility providers, material deliveries, and equipment
  • Partner closely with Project Managers to maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Develop and maintain two-week look-ahead schedules
  • Lead jobsite safety efforts and maintain OSHA-compliant work environments
  • Perform quality control inspections and direct corrective actions when necessary
  • Communicate effectively with owners, inspectors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
  • Complete daily project documentation, reports, and field communication using Procore and other company technology tools
  • Support project turnover, punch list completion, and closeout activities

Required Qualifications

  • Experience leading field operations as a Superintendent or Lead Foreman on construction projects
  • Experience completing at least three ground-up construction projects, including sitework and building construction phases
  • Experience coordinating sitework and civil construction activities
  • Experience managing fast-paced construction projects with aggressive schedules and multiple moving parts
  • Strong scheduling, planning, and subcontractor coordination skills
  • Experience creating and managing two-week look-ahead schedules
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Comfortable using tablets, email, and construction software for field reporting
  • Must be able to successfully complete any pre-employment screenings required for the position
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Midwest region

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Procore experience
  • Carpentry background
  • Experience managing multiple short-duration projects annually
  • Quick Service Restaurant (QSR), restaurant, retail, or other commercial construction experience

Travel Requirements

This is a regional travel position with projects primarily located

throughout Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio, with occasional projects in Missouri.

Candidates should be comfortable traveling throughout the Midwest and returning

home on weekends when project schedules and locations permit.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $80,000 - $110,000
  • Paid downtime between projects
  • Company-paid lodging (hotel or Airbnb)
  • $60 daily per diem for meals and incidentals
  • Mileage reimbursement at $0.76 per mile from mobilization through demobilization
  • Additional reimbursement available for employees utilizing personal RV or camper accommodations
  • Paid company holidays
  • Company-provided cellphone
  • Company-provided Surface Pro

 Work Environment

  • 100% on-site construction supervision role
  • Typical schedule of 40-50 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday schedule with occasional Saturday work when project demands require it
  • Travel-based role supporting projects throughout the Midwest region

Why Apply?

  • Opportunity to lead ground-up QSR, retail, and commercial construction projects from groundbreaking through completion
  • Strong backlog of work with a growing contractor
  • Paid downtime between projects
  • Company-paid lodging and travel expenses
  • Daily per diem and mileage reimbursement
  • Opportunity to travel throughout the Midwest while remaining within a regional footprint
  • Ability to take ownership of your projects and drive results in the field
  • Opportunity to return home on weekends when project schedules and locations permit

If you enjoy building projects from the ground up, thrive in a field leadership role, and are looking for a position that combines project

ownership, travel, and long-term career stability, we would like to hear from you.
