Tribal Liaison

The Job/What You'll Do:

The Tribal Liaison serves on the Serious Mental Illness (SMI) Appeals team but is responsible for coordinating the determination and appeal process between Solari and all the Native American tribal entities located in Arizona, including the Tribal Regional Behavioral Health Authorities (TRBHAs), Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS). The Tribal Liaison acts as an advocate for tribal members applying for SMI eligibility throughout the entire process.

Responsibilities:

· Serves as the primary point of contact regarding the coordination of the SMI determination process concerning all Native Americans seeking SMI services.

· Provides technical assistance to providers in completing the SMI evaluation and submitting to Solari.

· Advocates for and educates tribal SMI applicants on eligibility and their rights.

· Processes administrative removals of SMI designations by liaising with the applicant, provider and MCO.

· Perform duties in compliance with the SMI Eligibility and Care Services Unit policies and procedures to ensure compliance with AHCCCS requirements.

· Upon referral, review and collect all available member assessment and evaluation documentation, request additional outside medical records and contact referring party for clarifying information as needed.

· Track all aspects of the eligibility determination process to ensure mandated timelines are met.

· Maintain communication with other agencies on behalf of the organization and members.

· Provides training and education to providers as requested.

· Other assignments as assigned or requested.

Education & Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in field, Required
• Bachelor's Degree in behavioral health, healthcare, or related field, Required
