What the role is about:The Trim Lead is a non-exempt (hourly) role that reports to the Assistant Manager of Trim (ASM) and is responsible for overseeing and assisting with the efficient processing of material allocated for Trim. The role is primarily accountable for daily data collection, maintaining continuous production flow, and maintaining high quality while material is processed. The Trim Lead works closely with the ASM to maintain production standards, serves as the primary point of oversight for trim technicians in the ASM’s absence, and leads by example by consistently adhering to correct processes and expectations. With approximately 30 full-time Post Harvest Technicians assigned to production areas on a rotating basis, the Trim Lead provides operational direction and people management for the technicians in their area at any given time. Success is measured against daily, weekly, and monthly Trim production goals and continuous production flow from Trim to Pack and Joints. This position upholds Proper Brands’ mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
What impact you’ll make: - Prepare material for technicians to process by hand trim, buck, and buck/trim methods, averaging approximately 150 to 200 lbs daily, and follow production schedules to meet weekly and monthly targets (approximately 60% of time, including the next three items)
- Weigh, label, and prepare all plant material, including trim, BLT, stems, and distillate (over 345 lbs weekly), keeping material separated by cultivar
- Prepare material for testing by batching and recording accurate METRC IDs, and communicate with Supply Chain when testing batches are ready
- Record data accurately in all required platforms, including Google Sheets and Excel, covering technician performance, trimmer weights, time per batch, waste, and Trim and Bud Packaging Notes
- Coach and develop technicians, enforce operational rules, motivate the team toward performance targets, and resolve questions and conflicts with leadership (approximately 30% of time)
- Run room setup and closing, maintain supply stock and equipment, and oversee the Trim area independently when the ASM is unavailable
- Monitor hourly progress and quality to maintain continuous production flow from Trim to Pack and Joints
- Oversee cleaning checklists, ensure hygiene standards and clean tools, and wear required PPE to maintain facility cleanliness and safety (approximately 10% of time)
What you’ve accomplished: - Must be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain a Missouri Agent ID prior to start date
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience, including 1+ years of people leadership, 1+ years of cannabis trimming, and 1+ years of production in a manufacturing facility
- Cannabis compliance knowledge and production data tracking experience
- Demonstrated ability to identify quality control issues
- Tenacity to achieve excellence in quality and production, with a proactive approach to identifying bottlenecks and quality obstacles before they affect production
- Ability to work in a cannabis production facility with exposure to plant material, cannabis odors, and airborne particulates; PPE is required and provided
- Ability to stand and use fine motor skills continuously, walk frequently, lift up to 50 lbs, and travel up to 5% of the time
