Job Description
A JBS QA Supervisor
oversees the quality and food safety aspects of production, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, and manages a team of QA technicians
. They are responsible for tasks such as monitoring product quality, conducting tests, maintaining records, and ensuring proper procedures are followed. They also play a key role in training, performance management, and maintaining a positive work environment for their team able to work long hours based on production demand. Responsibilities:
- Leading and supervising a team of QA technicians, including training, performance management, and addressing performance issues.
- Ensuring products meet established standards and specifications, conducting inspections and tests, and monitoring production processes.
- Ensuring compliance with USDA regulations and other food safety standards, monitoring sanitation and hygiene practices, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Maintaining clear communication with QA, production, and USDA personnel, and reporting quality data to relevant stakeholders.
- Identifying areas for improvement in quality and food safety processes and implementing solutions.
Requirements:
- Previous supervisory experience, and experience in a food manufacturing environment (preferably poultry or beef processing).
- Understanding of USDA and OSHA regulations, quality assurance principles, and food safety procedures.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., food science, biology) may be preferred, but experience can be a significant factor.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Food Science, Animal Science, etc.) or an Associate's degree with related experience. Prior supervisory experience, especially in a food manufacturing or poultry environment, is often required.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, USDA and OSHA regulations, HACCP plans, and quality management systems is crucial. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, are also important.
- Soft Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, communication (written and verbal), decision-making, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
