Truss Designer

We are seeking an experienced Truss Designer to support both residential tract housing and commercial construction projects throughout the Southeast. This individual will develop accurate, efficient truss designs and layouts while working closely with estimating, sales, and production teams to ensure designs meet project specifications, building codes, and engineering requirements.

Candidates with experience using Alpine design software and a background in high-volume residential or commercial truss design are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and detail roof and floor truss systems for residential tract housing and commercial construction projects.
• Prepare truss layouts, placement diagrams, and shop drawings based on architectural plans, structural drawings, and project specifications.
• Utilize truss design software to develop accurate designs that meet applicable building codes, load requirements, and engineering standards.
• Review construction documents to identify design considerations, potential conflicts, and opportunities to improve material efficiency.
• Coordinate with sales, estimating, production, and engineering teams to resolve design questions and keep projects moving on schedule.
• Revise designs as needed to accommodate project changes, field conditions, and customer requirements.
• Ensure designs are accurate, complete, and ready for production.
• Communicate with builders, contractors, and internal teams to address technical questions and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience designing wood roof and/or floor trusses.
• Experience supporting residential tract housing, commercial construction, or both.
• Proficiency with truss design software; Alpine software experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, structural drawings, and construction documents.
• Working knowledge of building codes, structural loads, truss components, and design requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates based in Georgia, Alabama, or Mississippi are preferred. Individuals in neighboring Southeastern states with relevant experience may also be considered.
