Tutor: Main (PT)

Georgia Military College (GMC) Main Campus is seeking qualified candidates to serve as part-time tutors in the following subject areas:

• Anatomy & Physiology
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Computer Science
• Mathematics
• English
• Political Science
• History
• Psychology
• Criminal Justice
• Sociology
• SAT/ACT Test Preparation

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide academic support to students through one-on-one, small-group, drop-in, appointment and classroom-based tutoring sessions.
• Monitor employee GMC email on a weekly basis for tutoring assignments, updates, and communications.
• Provide the Academic Support Manager with an updated availability schedule at the beginning of each academic quarter.
• Promptly communicate any scheduling conflicts or changes at least 24 hours in advance.
• Maintain accurate attendance records for all tutoring sessions.
• Collaborate with course instructors, as needed, to obtain syllabi, course materials, or clarification regarding curriculum and course expectations.
• Participate in all required tutor training and professional development sessions as directed by the Academic Support Manager.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate strong subject-matter expertise, effective communication skills, and a commitment to supporting student success.+

• Criminal background check and drug screen must be cleared before any candidate may begin working.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must possess at least a high school diploma.
• Commit to two full quarters of tutoring.
• Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Be organized and punctual.
• Must be able to maintain an electronic timesheet.
• Completed sophomore-level college coursework in the subject area with an A or B average.
• Meet with students on a one-to-one, small-group, or classroom tutoring format(s) to give learning assistance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience tutoring college students and/or adult learners
