Description

Kforce has a client that is seeking a UDMH Data Modeler - Senior Associate in New York, NY. Overview: Our client is seeking a UDMH Data Modeler to support enterprise healthcare analytics and data warehousing initiatives. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining logical and physical data models using the IBM Unified Data Model for Healthcare (UDMH) framework across Operational Data Stores (ODS), Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW), Clinical Data Integration platforms, and cloud-based analytics environments. The ideal candidate will partner with data engineering, BI, and business teams to build scalable, high-quality data models that support reporting, analytics, and clinical decision-making. Responsibilities include developing canonical healthcare data models, supporting ETL and CDC integrations, maintaining data governance standards, performing impact analysis, and optimizing data structures for performance and scalability. Additional responsibilities include supporting AWS data modernization efforts through Redshift, S3, and Glue data modeling, driving data model rationalization and simplification initiatives, managing complex data model incidents and escalations, and maintaining comprehensive documentation including data dictionaries, ER diagrams, lineage, mapping specifications, and knowledge transfer materials. This is an excellent opportunity for a healthcare data modeling professional who enjoys translating complex business requirements into scalable, enterprise-grade data solutions while supporting data governance, modernization, and analytics initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum degree required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • 5-8 years of enterprise data modelling experience with deep expertise in logical and physical data model design, ER modelling, and large-scale data warehouse architecture
  • Hands-on experience with IBM Unified Data Model for Healthcare (UDMH) - including canonical model design, multi-tenant architecture, and hub-spoke entity structures
  • Expert-level proficiency in IBM DB2 - schema design, complex query writing, stored procedures, index management, and performance tuning on IBM IIAS appliance
  • Strong experience with data vault modelling concepts - Hubs, Links, Satellites, and Business Data Vault patterns
  • Proficiency in data modelling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, or IBM InfoSphere Data Architect
  • Solid understanding of SCD Type 1 and Type 2 implementation patterns and their impact on downstream ETL and reporting layers
  • Hands-on IBM DataStage experience - understanding of how ETL job design maps to physical data model structures, partitioning strategies, and load patterns
  • Experience working with Netezza Performance Server (NPS) or equivalent MPP analytical databases - distribution key design, zone maps, and query optimization
  • Strong understanding of star schema, snowflake schema, and dimensional modelling concepts for enterprise data warehouse environments
  • Experience with data governance tools and practices - data lineage, metadata management, data dictionary maintenance, and HIPAA-compliant data access controls
  • Proven ability to lead data model impact analysis, manage cross-team dependencies, and communicate model changes to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience operating within ITSM frameworks (ServiceNow or equivalent) for intake, change management, and delivery tracking
