Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
The Medical Physicist provides clinical medical physics support for the Herbert-Herman Cancer Center (HHCC) of University of Michigan Health-Sparrow in Lansing, Michigan. The position joins a multidisciplinary team of 2 radiation oncologists, 3 medical physicists, and 4 dosimetrists supporting treatment of more than 800 patients annually. The Medical Physicist is responsible for the safe, accurate, and effective application of radiation physics in external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy, including equipment quality assurance, commissioning, treatment planning support, clinical implementation of new technologies, and regulatory and accreditation compliance.

Job Requirements
Work Experience • Three years of recent clinical medical physics experience preferred. • Experience supporting external beam radiation therapy, treatment planning, equipment commissioning, and quality assurance, preferred. • Stereotactic treatment and brachytherapy experience, preferred. Education • Master of Science (MS) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in medical physics or physics required. • Board certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or certified within 3 years of hire or transfer. Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Strong computer and technical skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment. • Knowledge of radiation therapy quality assurance, treatment planning, radiation safety, and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. • Ability to evaluate and implement new radiation therapy procedures, techniques, systems, and technologies.
