UPD Student Event Security Team

The University Police Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking applicants for its Event Security Team. We are looking for individuals who will be dedicated to increasing the overall safety environment of campus. Team members will be non-sworn and unarmed and will help to identify and locate potential risks and hazards and increase the university community sense of security and safety.

Work is performed under direct supervision. Participate in training programs. Apply basic security officer practices and procedures under the guidance of Event Supervisor.
Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Recordkeeping skills. Conflict resolution and organizational skills. Ability to operate computers and specialized equipment. Ability to exercise judgment under difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
Must possess a valid ID. Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation, as directed by University of Alaska Board of Regents Policy. Must be able to provide credible testimony in a court of law. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive.
Special Conditions:
This position is for campus special events and schedule is based upon the events. Maybe requested to assist in campus emergencies or shift coverage of campus secuirty based upon addiitonal security training and obtain clearances.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:
a. Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment. Must demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters.
b. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee.
c. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the senior student services officer.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a part-time, temporary Student Worker position, up to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Starting hourly rate is $20.47/hour.
This recruitment is open to undergraduate students only.
