Urologist
Patients come to you when urinary function, cancer risk, and quality of life collide. This role exists to deliver precise diagnosis, timely treatment, and surgical judgment that changes outcomes—not to fill a schedule. You will own a full adult urology practice where access, evidence, and follow-through are measured, and where your decisions set the standard for the team around you.
Performance Objectives
- Build and sustain a productive outpatient and inpatient panel, seeing new and return patients with wait times that meet access targets.
- Diagnose and manage the full spectrum of adult urology—stones, BPH, incontinence, men’s health, infections, and urologic cancers—using guidelines and shared decision-making.
- Perform office procedures and indicated surgery with complication, readmission, and reoperation rates at or better than peer benchmarks.
- Complete timely operative notes, pathology follow-up, and care plans so cancer and post-acute patients do not fall through handoffs.
- Partner with primary care, oncology, radiology, and nephrology so referrals convert to clear next steps within agreed turnaround times.
- Cover call and urgent consults so emergency and inpatient urology needs are addressed without delay or unnecessary transfer.
- Improve at least one practice metric each year—access, infection prevention, stone recurrence, or patient experience—and report results to leadership.
Environment & Resources
You will practice with a multidisciplinary clinical team—advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, and surgical staff—supported by modern endoscopy, imaging, EMR order sets, and a dedicated scheduler. OR block time, clinic templates, and call rotation are defined before start. You report to the medical director for clinical quality and to practice leadership for operations. Coding, prior authorization, and referral coordination are staffed so your time stays on evaluation, procedures, and patient decisions.
Essential Qualifications
- MD or DO and completion of an ACGME-accredited urology residency; board certification or active board eligibility.
- Active, unrestricted state medical license and DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain both before start.
- Demonstrated independent practice in clinic, hospital consults, and the operating room, including endoscopic and open or minimally invasive cases appropriate to the service.
- Current hospital privileges or a clean record that supports privileging without restriction.
- Fluency with EMR documentation, quality reporting, and multidisciplinary cancer or stone pathways.
- Clear communication with patients and referring clinicians, including difficult diagnoses and consent.
Role Selling Points
- A defined panel and OR access so productivity is built on patients, not politics.
- APP and clinical support that protects physician time for complex decisions and surgery.
- Quality infrastructure already in place—not a blank spreadsheet you have to invent alone.
- Call that is shared and predictable, with backup for high-acuity nights.
- A placement built around fit: scope, volume, and lifestyle discussed before you commit.
