Compensation is determined in accordance with the City College of San Francisco Faculty Salary Schedule for Pay-by-workload assignments. The workload compensation upon entry currently ranges from $2,163.36 to $3,302.80 per workload unit, depending upon placement.

Instructor of United States History- Temporary - part time

Job Duties

  1. Teach in-person History C1001 (US History from the colonial period through 1865).

  2. Teach in-person History C1002 (US History from 1865 through present day).

  3. Teach in-person History 1 (US History since 1900).

  4. Teach online classes after undergoing CCSF acceptable/approved equivalent training.

  5. Participate in curriculum development.

  6. Participate in other faculty responsibilities and duties as appropriate, such as department and campus committee work as well as professional development activities.

  7. Perform professional duties including, but not limited to, testing, grading, maintaining grade book, maintaining student attendance records, assessing and submitting student learning outcomes (SLO's), etc.

  8. Teach day and/or evening, and/or Saturday classes at any of the College's campuses as required.

  9. Support and engage in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.

  10. Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.

  11. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

STATE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

  2. Earned Master's in History from an accredited institution; OR the equivalent,

OR

Earned Bachelor's in History from an accredited institution AND Master's in Political Science, Humanities, Geography, Area Studies, Women's Studies, Social Science or Ethnic Studies from an accredited institution; OR the equivalent.

ADDITIONAL CCSF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Earned Master's Degree or higher in History from an accredited institution with demonstrable emphasis (major) in United States History (at least 5 upper division and/or graduate level courses); or the equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Previous experience teaching United States History at the community college level or the equivalent.

  2. Previous teaching experience in college-level United States History courses.

  3. Demonstrated experience in working with people of various racial and ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations.

  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.

  5. Familiarity with and commitment to the mission and functions of a community college.
