Role Name: Senior Software Engineer – DevOps and Mobile Operations Lead
Work Location: Plano, TX (Onsite)
 
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized, self-driven Senior Software Engineer with strong software development expertise, technical leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to drive initiatives through completion.
The ideal candidate will develop software and automation scripts, lead DevOps and CI/CD improvements, coordinate mobile product launches, and investigate complex field issues across connected systems.
AI-enabled engineering is a central component of this role. The candidate will leverage AI tools responsibly to enhance productivity, improve software quality, accelerate technical analysis, and support the successful delivery of projects from initial requirements through verified completion.
 
Key Responsibilities:
1. DevOps and Software Delivery
  • Lead the development, optimization, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Improve branching strategies, release workflows, build automation, artifact management, and environment configuration.
  • Implement delivery controls that enable reliable, repeatable, and secure software releases.
2. Software Development and Automation
  • Design, develop, and maintain scripts, tools, services, and utilities to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Improve developer experience, operational efficiency, and release quality.
  • Develop automation solutions that provide actionable operational insights and streamline engineering workflows.
3. Mobile Product Launches
  • Coordinate Mobile Operations (MobileOps) activities for Android and iOS releases.
  • Manage build readiness, application signing, provisioning, packaging, deployment, and configuration.
  • Support launch planning, release verification, monitoring, rollback planning, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure smooth and reliable mobile application releases.
4. Field Support and Root Cause Analysis
  • Investigate complex field issues by analyzing logs, telemetry, configurations, software behavior, and system interactions.
  • Reproduce issues, identify root causes, and assess product impact.
  • Coordinate corrective actions across mobile applications, cloud platforms, connected devices, and firmware systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable solutions.
5. Software Quality, Security, and Compliance
  • Integrate automated testing, static analysis, security scanning, traceability, and diagnostics into software delivery workflows.
  • Implement appropriate approval gates and maintain release documentation and evidence.
  • Ensure delivery processes support IEC 62304 Class C software development requirements.
6. AI-Enabled Engineering
  • Utilize approved AI copilots, large language models (LLMs), and agentic workflows to improve engineering productivity.
  • Apply AI tools to scripting, pipeline development, release preparation, documentation, log analysis, troubleshooting, root cause investigation, and knowledge retrieval.
  • Validate all AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy, security, and reliability.
  • Protect sensitive information, maintain traceability, and ensure appropriate human review and accountability.
7. Technical Leadership and Project Ownership
  • Independently manage priorities, clarify requirements, and develop actionable execution plans.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and potential barriers to successful delivery.
  • Communicate project status, escalate issues when necessary, and drive commitments through completion.
  • Demonstrate strong technical ownership, accountability, and measurable results.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with software engineering, systems engineering, firmware, cybersecurity, quality, regulatory, infrastructure, clinical, and product teams.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to improve software delivery practices.
  • Lead technical discussions and coordinate the resolution of high-priority product issues.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, DevOps, release engineering, site reliability engineering, product operations, or a related field supporting complex software products.
  • Strong programming and scripting experience using Python, PowerShell, Bash, C#, .NET, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
  • Ability to develop secure, maintainable, and production-quality automation solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and technologies, including Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Git.
  • Experience with automated builds, artifact repositories, dependency management, release branching, and deployment automation.
  • Experience supporting Android and iOS application releases, including signing, certificates, provisioning, packaging, configuration, enterprise or managed deployment, release verification, monitoring, and rollback planning.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application, mobile, cloud, network, device, and firmware environments.
  • Experience analyzing logs, telemetry, failures, and system behavior to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI-enabled development tools, LLMs, or agentic workflows to improve engineering productivity, automation quality, and operational analysis.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI usage, output validation, and secure engineering practices.
  • Excellent organizational, technical leadership, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and ensure reliable follow-through.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Class III medical-device software.
  • Familiarity with IEC 62304 Class C software development, ISO 14971 risk management, ISO 13485, FDA design controls, cybersecurity expectations, requirements traceability, and release evidence.
  • Experience with Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS), Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), neuromodulation, connected therapeutic systems, or active implantable medical devices.
  • Experience supporting mobile product launches or providing field support for connected medical devices.
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms, infrastructure as code (IaC), containers, configuration management, and site reliability engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of observability platforms, dashboards, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), embedded systems, firmware integration, device simulators, hardware-in-the-loop environments, or secure mobile-device management.
Mandatory Skills
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience supporting Class III medical-device software and familiarity with IEC 62304 Class C development, ISO 14971 risk management, ISO 13485, FDA design controls, cybersecurity expectations, requirements traceability, and release evidence.
  • Experience with SCS, DBS, neuromodulation, connected therapeutic systems, mobile product launches, or field support for active implantable medical devices.
  • Experience with Azure or another cloud platform, infrastructure as code, containers, configuration management, observability platforms, dashboards, alerting, or site reliability practices.
  • Experience with connected medical products, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), embedded systems, firmware integration, device simulators, hardware-in-the-loop environments, or secure mobile-device management.
