Lead a Dedicated Pre-Owned Sales Team in Our Standalone Used Car Facility

Safford Mazda Fairfax is seeking an experienced, motivated Used Car Sales Manager to lead and grow our pre-owned vehicle department.

As one of Northern Virginia's leading Mazda dealerships, we've built a reputation for strong sales performance, exceptional customer service, and doing business with integrity. Our pre-owned operation features its own dedicated sales building and sales staff, providing an excellent opportunity for a proven leader to build on an established operation and drive continued growth.

We're looking for a hands-on manager who understands today's competitive used vehicle market, leads by example, and takes pride in developing people. The ideal candidate combines strong sales and inventory management skills with a commitment to honesty, accountability, and delivering an outstanding customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Pre-Owned Sales Team: Manage, motivate, and develop a dedicated team of pre-owned sales professionals.

• Drive Sales Performance: Establish sales goals, monitor results, and actively coach the team to achieve and exceed objectives.

• Manage Inventory: Proactively acquire vehicles through trades, auctions, service drive opportunities, and direct consumer purchases. Oversee appraisals, pricing, merchandising, inventory aging, and turn.

• Develop the Sales Team: Recruit, train, and mentor salespeople through hands-on coaching and leadership by example.

• Work the Deals: Be actively involved in desking, negotiating, closing, and helping the team maximize sales opportunities.

• Maximize Lead Opportunities: Ensure effective CRM utilization, internet lead management, customer follow-up, and appointment setting.

• Manage Department Profitability: Monitor gross profit, inventory expenses, and key performance indicators.

• Deliver an Exceptional Customer Experience: Foster a culture of integrity, transparency, professionalism, and genuine care for every customer.

What We're Looking For

• Proven automotive sales management experience, preferably in a used car management role

• Strong understanding of used vehicle acquisition, appraisal, pricing, and inventory management

• Demonstrated ability to grow sales volume while maintaining profitability

• Uncompromising integrity and a commitment to doing what's right for customers and employees

• Hands-on leadership style with a passion for coaching and developing salespeople

• Strong desking, negotiation, and closing skills

• Experience with automotive CRM and inventory management systems

• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• A proactive, goal-oriented mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and take action

• A commitment to teamwork, accountability, and customer satisfaction
