Oxford Solutions is working with a client seeking an experienced Utility Construction Inspector to support electric utility construction projects throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. This is a full-time contract opportunity involving field oversight of transmission line, distribution line, and substation construction.
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant construction experience and be comfortable traveling to project sites. Travel expenses and per diem are available for qualifying assignments.
Responsibilities
Provide field inspection and quality assurance oversight for utility construction projects
Monitor contractor work for compliance with project requirements, safety standards, permits, and specifications
Inspect transmission, distribution, and/or substation construction activities
Oversee site preparation, access road construction, earthwork, foundations, concrete placement, and related civil work
Monitor stormwater management and environmental/permitting requirements
Document field activities, construction progress, materials, equipment, and potential issues
Coordinate with contractors, project representatives, and other field personnel
Support rehabilitation and improvement work associated with utility infrastructure
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of construction experience involving transmission lines, distribution systems, and/or substations
Strong understanding of construction safety practices and an excellent safety record
Current OSHA 10-hour training
Knowledge of utility system switching and ability to qualify for required site clearances
Comfortable completing electronic field reports and documentation
Valid driver's license with ability to travel to project locations
Ability to work independently in an active construction environment
Physical / Field Requirements
Ability to walk or hike through utility rights-of-way, unimproved terrain, and remote project areas
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
Flexibility to work extended or irregular hours when project conditions require
