WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists craft workers in Labor Department.
• Assists wrapping and insulating steam and water pipes in tunnels and classrooms.
• Assists in brushing or spraying waterproofing on bricks or cement.
• Helps put caulking in joints, cracks and around windows to seal against water or air leaks.
• Assists cement finisher, masonry workers, landscaper and floor covering installer by performing heavy work such as lifting, carrying, digging and demolition.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The Utility Craftsmen should be able to be flexible and be able to work under a wide variety of conditions.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Indiana Driver's License.
