We are seeking an experienced Utility Locating & GPR Technician to join a growing field operations team focused on underground utility detection, concrete scanning, and subsurface mapping.
This position will use advanced locating and scanning technology to identify, document, and map underground utilities and other subsurface infrastructure before construction, excavation, drilling, or other site work begins.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in underground utility locating, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), concrete scanning, private utility locating, or Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and is comfortable working independently in field environments.

Perform underground utility locating and subsurface investigations at commercial, construction, utility, and other project sites.
Use Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) and electromagnetic locating equipment to identify underground utilities and infrastructure.
Perform concrete scanning and imaging to identify utilities, conduits, rebar, post-tension cables, voids, and other embedded or subsurface objects.
Accurately mark and document utility locations and underground findings.
Collect field data using tablets, GIS technology, and other digital mapping tools.
Assist in converting field findings into clear maps, drawings, and reports for customers.
Interpret field data and communicate findings to customers, contractors, and project teams.
Maintain scanning, locating, and field equipment.
Follow established safety procedures while working around construction sites, roadways, utilities, and active job sites.
Travel to customer and project locations throughout the assigned territory.
Provide professional, customer-focused service while working independently in the field.
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:

Electromagnetic utility locating
GIS or underground infrastructure mapping
Construction or infrastructure field services
Utility systems and underground infrastructure
Field data collection and reporting
Previous hands-on experience with utility locating, GPR, concrete scanning, SUE, or a closely related field.
Ability to operate or quickly become proficient with GPR, electromagnetic locating, concrete scanning, and field mapping equipment.
Ability to interpret underground utility and subsurface findings accurately.
Comfortable working outdoors and in active construction or field environments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
Comfortable using tablets, mobile applications, and field data collection technology.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and manage field assignments with limited supervision.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
This position will operate on a nontraditional full-time schedule designed to maximize field coverage.
The anticipated schedule consists of approximately:
Three 10-hour shifts
One 5-hour shift
Full-time compensation based on a 40-hour workweek
Specific shift assignments will be discussed during the interview process.
$65,000–$70,000 annually, based on experience and technical background.
This position is joining the organization during the early stages of a significant growth initiative. The initial operation will be based in Whitestown, Indiana, with plans to expand into additional markets.
