Nature of Work

The purpose of this job is to ensure the efficient and reliable delivery of Drinking Water. Provides safe, good tasting, good quality drinking water customers in sufficient quantities and at a reasonable cost. Provides reliable equipment operations needed to accomplish this endeavor. Provides support services to other departments within the citys organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

• Maintains operational condition of pumping assets needed to produce and move drinking water.
• Replaces, repairs, plumbs, and maintains all piping needed
• Installs new equipment
• Diagnoses mechanical defects and makes appropriate repairs
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and plumbing systems
• Maintains records and logs
• Orders necessary parts and materials
• Provides guidance, training and direction to less experienced mechanics and plant assistants
• Performs related work as required

Minimum Training and Experience

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
• -AND--
• Four (4) years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair work, especially related to plant maintenance
• -OR--
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
