UX Design Intern

Our client, a design and branding company based in downtown Austin, is looking for a UX Design Intern to join its product team for a semester-long internship. This role supports the design of digital interfaces for web and mobile applications used by the studio's client base across retail, healthcare, and technology sectors.

The intern will work alongside senior designers and researchers throughout the product development cycle, from early concept sketches through wireframes, prototypes, and final visual design. This is a hands-on opportunity to build a professional portfolio while learning how a working design studio operates day to day.

This internship is well suited for a student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field who wants direct exposure to client-facing design work in a fast-paced studio environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
• Support user research activities including interviews and usability testing
• Help translate research findings into design recommendations
• Maintain and update design system components and style guides
• Participate in design critiques and client presentation preparation
• Collaborate with developers to ensure design specifications are implemented correctly
• Conduct competitive analysis and gather design inspiration for new projects
• Document design decisions and maintain organized project files

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in design, HCI, or related field
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma or Adobe XD
• Basic understanding of user-centered design principles
• Strong visual and communication skills
• Ability to accept and apply constructive feedback
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment
• Portfolio of coursework or personal design projects preferred
• Available to work on-site in Austin for the internship duration
