UX Designer - Remote

Genesis10 is currently seeking a UX Designer - Remote for a contract position with a Government Agency located in St. Paul, MN. This is a 10 month contract opportunity.

Compensation: $60.00 - $72.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview:
This role is part of a project to design and develop a website and webform to allow for the online completion of accessibility documentation. The selected candidate will own the structure, flow, and usability of the website, conducting user research, creating wireframes, prototypes, and user journeys to ensure the experience is intuitive and logical.

Key Responsibilities:

• Map user flows, design information architecture, and conduct usability testing
• Interview users, run surveys, and observe behavior to build personas and identify user needs
• Map out step-by-step user journeys and document how users navigate complex flows
• Organize content, navigation, and site structure, defining labels, categories, and hierarchy
• Create low and high fidelity wireframes and build interactive prototypes for testing
• Design responsive layouts for mobile, tablet, and desktop
• Run usability tests using prototypes or working features and iterate designs based on feedback
• Create or contribute to a design system, defining color, typography, spacing, and component patterns
• Apply WCAG accessibility guidelines to design inclusive experiences
• Work closely with front-end and back-end developers to ensure designs are technically feasible
• Write clear microcopy for buttons, forms, warnings, and instructions
• Review behavior analytics, heatmaps, and usage data to identify bottlenecks and refine the product

Primary Requirements:

• Experience designing websites
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing
• Experience creating user journeys and site maps
• Experience improving website navigation and accessibility
• Experience analyzing user feedback and making design improvements
• Experience designing websites that meet accessibility standards (WCAG)
