Vehicle Mechanic 1 (Full-Time)

General Description

Under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Director, performs skilled maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of County-owned vehicles and equipment. Maintains vehicles and equipment in safe and reliable operating condition, including cars, trucks, buses, and other County-owned equipment. Responsible for maintaining accurate repair records, monitoring and maintaining necessary supplies, and safely operating and utilizing a variety of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialized shop equipment.

Essential Job Functions

• Receives, reviews and records vehicles delivered for inspection or repair.
• Maintains vehicle repair records.
• Maintains and replenishes supplies for regular maintenance of vehicles.
• Performs preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on County vehicles and equipment, including cars, trucks, buses and other County owned equipment.
• Performs oil changes, lubrication, brake service, tire inspection and replacement, battery testing and replacement, and other preventative maintenance activities.
• Has working knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines and related systems. Troubleshoots and performs repairs involving diesel engines and diesel emission systems when applicable.
• Uses hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, hydraulic lifts, welding equipment, compressors, jacks, and other specialized shop equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and properly store tools, equipment, parts, and supplies.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in vehicle repair to include light truck and buses.
• ASE Certifications preferred.
• Possess valid Ohio driver's license and good driving record.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm

Starting Range: $22.11 - $31.27 based on experience and certification.
