Veterinary Assistant - Float

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Patient Float Veterinary Assistant. The purpose of this position is to provide quality customer service from the time of arrival to when the patient goes home, and to provide help with patient care throughout the hospital as needed in various departments. This position will provide help with patient intake, transporting patients throughout the hospital for a variety of services, aiding VHC veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Nurses in the performance of their duties to improve the efficiency of the hospital and improve client service experience. Hospital mission includes requirement of providing quality medical services to clients and training for professional veterinary students.

About This Role

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team to help facilitate exemplary patient care and quality customer service. This position will provide patient and administrative support to the faculty, staff, and veterinary students of the VHC. The role will include many engaging responsibilities such as overseeing patient intake, assisting with treatments, ensuring accuracy of visit charges, and providing quality customer service from patient check-in to discharge. Working hours for this position will include daytime hours Monday-Friday. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail will be key in succeeding in this position.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent)
• One year of relevant experience.
• Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year or more experience as a veterinary assistant.
• Experience working with electronic medical records systems.
• Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals.
• Experience in client services.
