Veterinary Medical Director - Leadership Role | Baltimore, MDA progressive small animal hospital in the heart of Baltimore is seeking a confident and compassionate veterinarian with strong general practice and surgical skills to step into a Medical Director position. This well-established, Fear Free® certified clinic is located in a vibrant, historic district of Baltimore. With five fully equipped exam rooms, a dedicated surgical suite on a separate floor, in-house laboratory, digital radiography (including dental), and a commitment to gold-standard medicine, the practice serves a diverse caseload of dogs, cats, and exotic species. Since its founding over two decades ago, it has built a loyal client base and a reputation for compassionate, patient-focused care.
Leadership Opportunity:The incoming Medical Director will lead a team of four veterinarians and a seasoned support staff. The role blends clinical care with mentorship and hospital leadership, providing a unique opportunity to shape protocols, develop the team, and maintain the hospital's high standards of care.
Primary Responsibilities:- Lead by example in clinical excellence, communication, and client service
- Mentor associate veterinarians and support staff to foster professional growth
- Guide clinical protocols and decision-making to support patient outcomes
- Collaborate with management to streamline workflows and support a positive culture
- Perform routine surgeries (e.g., spays/neuters, mass removals, foreign body surgeries)
- Deliver high-quality dentistry, including extractions with radiographic support
- Support and promote low-stress, Fear Free handling and patient care
Compensation & Benefits:- Competitive base salary ranging from $150,000-$180,000 (based on experience)
- Ownership interest? $400,000 equity ownership package with no money out of pocket

Ideal Candidate Profile:- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an accredited program
- Licensed or eligible to practice in Maryland
- Minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in small animal medicine
- Experienced in GP dentistry and soft tissue surgery
- Previous experience mentoring or leading veterinary teams preferred
