The Hospital

The Role
- Full-time, multi-hospital medical leadership position overseeing associate veterinarians across assigned locations
- Attract, develop, and retain medical talent through structured coaching, feedback, and performance conversations
- Lead quality of care and patient safety initiatives; conduct medical record reviews and clinical audits
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including controlled substance management and radiation safety
- Partner closely with practice management to achieve hospital operational goals and clinical KPIs
- Support recruitment efforts and provide a high-quality experience for candidates and student externs
- Develop succession plans and a strong internal leadership bench
- Address client concerns related to standards of care and ensure exceptional client service
- Maintain oversight of medical equipment needs and requests
- Provide hands-on clinical care as needed, including surgery and dentistry

Requirements
- DVM/VMD degree from an accredited institution
- Active Illinois veterinary license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Proven clinical proficiency, including general surgery and dentistry
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop veterinarians
- Strong communication skills with a focus on client service and team collaboration
- Comfort with data-driven practice management, quality assurance, and KPI accountability
- Ability to travel between assigned hospitals within the Chicago area as needed
