    Veterinary Oncologist (DACVIM)

    Salary: $185,000+ (base with additional production compensation with no negative accrual) 
    Location: Lakewood, Colorado

    Your Role as a Veterinary Oncologist 

    As a vital member of our Oncology team, you'll play a hands-on role in diagnosing, treating, and managing cancer in veterinary patients, utilizing advanced therapies including surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other specialized treatments. You'll develop and oversee individualized treatment plans, collaborate closely with primary care veterinarians and our multidisciplinary team, and communicate compassionately with pet owners throughout their pet's cancer journey. You'll build and manage a diverse oncology caseload, utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technology, and contribute to the continued growth of our oncology service through education, collaboration, and exceptional patient care. This position is ideal for a compassionate, highly skilled, and curious individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about providing advanced cancer care while making a meaningful difference for pets and the people who love them.

     

    You’ll use your expertise to:
    -Provide advanced oncology care in accordance with ACVIM guidelines, establishing and managing a strong caseload while delivering compassionate, ethical, and high-quality patient care.
    -Collaborate with specialists, emergency doctors, technicians, referring veterinarians, and clients to develop individualized treatment plans and ensure comprehensive care and follow-up.
    -Maintain accurate and timely medical records, treatment plans, and client estimates while balancing each patient’s medical needs with the client’s financial considerations.
    -Lead, mentor, and support oncology technicians and technician assistants while actively participating in hospital rounds, department meetings, team-building activities, and continuing education.
    -Contribute to the growth of the Oncology service through community outreach, Lunch & Learns, marketing events, and ongoing relationship-building with referring veterinary practices.

     

    Requirements 

    Required:

    • Colorado Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) License.
    • Board Certification through ACVIM.
    • Registration with DORA.
    • AVMA PLIT Insurance.
    • DEA License. 


    Schedule 
    Specialty doctors are expected to work 4 x 10-hour shifts alongside their department medical team. Hours and days dependent on case load and overall needs of the hospital. Further schedule details will be discussed and outlined in the contract for employment agreement. 

     

    Work Environment & Physical Demands 

    This role is physically active and fast-paced. You’ll need to: 

    • Lift up to 50 lbs frequently 
    • Kneel, stoop, crouch, and be on your feet for long periods 
    • Operate medical and office equipment 
    • Work around biological hazards and cleaning agents 
    • Communicate clearly in noisy environments
