$20.82–$22.00/hour | Part-Time | 20 hours/week | Bothell, WA

The Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine (CBEAM) is seeking a Sterile Resource Assistant to support our surgical team in Bothell, WA. This part-time position is 20 hours per week with compensation of $20.82–$22.00/hour. You'll be responsible for surgical instrument processing, sterilization, infection control, equipment care, and maintaining sterile supplies for our 24/7 exotic animal hospital.

The Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine is a 24/7 emergency and primary care veterinary hospital dedicated to avian and exotic animal medicine. Our team of veterinarians and support staff provides specialized medical, surgical, diagnostic, emergency, and critical care for non-traditional pets.

In your day-to-day you will

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.

  • Prepare surgical instruments and supplies to ensure they are properly processed and ready for procedures.

  • Operate sterilization equipment, including steam and other applicable sterilization systems, following established procedures and manufacturer instructions.

  • Conduct and document biological monitoring to verify sterilization effectiveness.

  • Follow infection prevention and control protocols throughout the instrument-processing workflow.

  • Inspect surgical instruments for damage, wear, or defects and communicate replacement or repair needs.

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of sterilization equipment and report malfunctions promptly.

  • Maintain organized operating room supply areas and restock sterile surgical supplies to support efficient procedures.

  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to help prevent shortages.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sterile processing and surgical environment.

  • Follow OSHA standards, hospital policies, infection control procedures, and manufacturer guidelines for equipment and cleaning products.

  • Work independently while collaborating with the surgical and hospital teams in a fast-paced environment.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, medical, clinical, surgical, or hospital setting preferred

  • Knowledge of sterile processing, infection control, or sterilization protocols preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Excellent organization and time-management skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and general office equipment

  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols consistently

Schedule

  • Part-time

  • 20 hours per week

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds

  • Ability to stand for extended periods

  • Frequent bending at the waist and movement throughout the surgical and sterile processing areas

  • Ability to work safely and accurately in a fast-paced environment
