Role at a Glance

  • Position: Doctor’s Assistant – Veterinary Surgery
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Shifts: Four or five weekday day shifts
  • Experience: At least two years of recent veterinary experience
  • Best fit: A knowledgeable, detail-oriented communicator who enjoys coordinating care and supporting clients

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate surgical consultations, procedures, recheck appointments, and related documentation.
  • Guide clients through pre-operative preparation, discharge, recovery, medications, and aftercare.
  • Perform phone triage for prospective surgical patients and help determine appropriate next steps.
  • Prepare patient estimates and invoices, fill prescriptions, and coordinate pharmacy orders.
  • Communicate with referring veterinarians and obtain medical records needed for continuity of care.
  • Follow up with surgical patients after discharge and provide daily updates to families of hospitalized patients.
  • Partner closely with surgeons and surgery technicians to support excellent patient outcomes.
  • Assist with appointments, inventory, and ordering as needed.

Qualifications

  • Required: High school diploma or GED and at least two years of recent veterinary experience.
  • Preferred: Previous surgery or specialty veterinary experience.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week, scheduled across four or five weekday day shifts.
