    Job Description

Syracuse University is building something new. We're launching SU Global to reimagine how we support and scale accessible online pathways for non-traditional learners, in a dynamic, innovative, and data-driven environment. That means rethinking how we work.

This role requires on-campus presence because the best ideas emerge from real-time collaboration, the mentorship that happens in hallways, and the spontaneous problem-solving that defines startup culture. You'll work non-traditional hours when needed - evening and weekend coverage, whatever it takes to deliver the best-in-class experience.

We're looking for team members who thrive in:

    • High-energy, in-person environments where innovation happens face-to-face
    • Flexible scheduling that follows student needs, not the clock
    • Startup intensity within a world-class university structure

We're not looking for people who want a job. We're looking for builders who want a mission.

The Video Editor Associate works closely with the video production team, instructional designers, and multimedia designers in the post-production stage of course development to produce content-rich academic videos, as directed by the Postproduction Manager. They coordinate regularly with the Postproduction Manager on the status of their assigned courses.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of video editing principles, media management, effective communication strategies, and time management skills. A successful candidate should demonstrate a passion and commitment to excellence in educational media.

    Education and Experience

    • BFA or BA in Cinema or related field (e.g., Editing/Post-Production); or three (3) or more years of video production experience in a professional environment.
    • Proficient in Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition, and DaVinci Resolve.

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Must have a fundamental understanding of video and audio editing and color correction.
    • Basic technical knowledge of video codecs and transcoding for web delivery.
    • Knowledge of data management, equipment compatibility, and post-production workflow.
    • Understanding of basic computer network concepts, including cloud and server-based solutions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Preferred: Understanding of effective multimedia integration in teaching and learning.
    • Preferred: Post-production certification (Adobe Certified User, DaVinci Resolve Certified User, etc.).

    Responsibilities

    Post-Production Execution

    • Ingest, log, sync, and organize media; perform post-production project setup, editing, on-lining, archiving, delivery, and management of digital assets.
    • Assemble footage into string-outs, rough, fine, and final cuts while maintaining professional standards.
    • Receive and implement notes regarding the editing of projects based on content and input from producers, instructional designers, and faculty members.
    • Perform initial color correction passes and preliminary sound sweetening.
    • Compress, upload, and archive final videos; ensure quality control and consistency on final deliverables.
    • Archive and maintain records of master files, ensuring all footage is secured and backed up.

    Collaboration and Review

    • Collaborate with instructional designers and the production team to understand and support online course goals.
    • Collaborate with project stakeholders on video review; synthesize and address feedback received while adhering to organizational quality standards.

    Graphics and Production Support
